Who We Are
I’m Oz, founder of AgaveTemecula, a 10-acre hillside agave farm in the heart of Southern California wine country. We’re located in Temecula’s C/V zoning area, where I’m blending my passions for regenerative agriculture, hospitality, and wellness to build something that celebrates the full spirit of agave. My background is in healthcare IT and finance, but my heart is in the soil—and in creating something meaningful for our community and the future of CA agave.
On our steep 35% slope, I grow Agave tequilana in 36-inch rows designed to optimize sunlight and manage erosion. My long-term vision is to create a vertically integrated business that maximizes the value of every plant. Current projects include opening a tasting room in Old Town Temecula to showcase California agave spirits, expanding an on-farm Airbnb experience, and developing eco-friendly byproducts from agave leaves to reduce waste.
Like many new growers, I’ve faced challenges including soil erosion, manual labor on steep terrain, and managing weeds without herbicides. Through berms, hand labor, mulching, and ongoing observation of the hillside, I’ve developed creative solutions while deepening my connection to the land.
Looking ahead, I’m passionate about creating shared experiences that bring people into the world of California agave—from future distillation to immersive farm stays and tastings. My advice to aspiring growers is simple: You don’t need to be a traditional farmer to grow agave, but you do need to be thoughtful. Understand your land, connect with your peers, and plan with purpose.
